If your Customer Identification Program was written in 2003 isn't it time to give it a thorough review and update? Many operational issues have changed and security systems installed over time so that your CIP may be out-of-date and cumbersome to your frontline. CIP is not rigid. You can review your program annually just like you review your risk assessment. What is working and what is not? If you have problems with your identification and documentation procedures maybe it is time to rewrite it to fit your current circumstances. This program will review CIP from A to Z and give you options. You'll discover what can be changed and what cannot.

What you will learn:
  • Definitions of: Account, Customer, and Bank
  • Who is exempt from CIP?
  • Information that is required before the account opening
  • Documentary verification and nondocumentary verification
  • Reliance on third parties and other financial institutions
  • Special issues: Agents, Powers of Attorney (and attorneys-in-fact), Minor accounts, Elderly accounts, Amish, business accounts
  • Does it make sense to change our policy?
  • Why did we do some of the things we did in our policy and would it make sense to change them?
  • Nonresident aliens: the on-going issues with CIP and your job as a withholding agent
Who should attend?
BSA officers, deposit operations, compliance officers, customer service representatives and anyone who opens accounts.
